Where to get the best cufflinks

Where to get the best cufflinks

People that know me also know its very rare for me to wear a shirt that is not a cufflink shirt. I always loved the look of cufflinks, and this little accessory gives me the possibility to add different color or style to an otherwise really simple shirt. I believe it is a discreet way to increase distinction in a man's outfit. I usually coordinate my cufflinks with a pocket square, with the line color of a pinstripe suit, with the color of my socks, or with a detail from my shirt. It is a good idea to match them with something else in your outfit, even a ring, suspenders or the lace of your shoes. It just makes the detail look planned.

Over the years I have collected cufflinks from all over and tested the quality from online stores.

Here my choices:

  1. My absolute favourite: The Missing Link ... You can either order them online, or, if you are in NYC, you can stop by the store at 40W 25th Street, Gallery#108 (it is downstairs -- the shoelace antique center in the Flatiron/Chelsea area). It is and incredible collection of the owner Michael Rodriguez with the most unique pieces; it offers around 20,000 styles, from antique-typewriter-key links ($65) to 1920s-era diamond-and-platinum ones ($450–$2,800); You can also find tuxedo shirts buttons sets.
  2. If you are looking for a smaller curated collection, then Fine & Dandy is your place. I would suggest you visit the store in Hells Kitchen in NYC to fully embrace the vision and the atmosphere. They carry a lot of accessories for men and have unique pieces.
  3. Another place with a huge selection of cufflinks with different levels of pricing is Cufflinks. You will not find any real antiques here, but you can choose cufflinks for any occasion and with engravable options.
  4. If you don’t have any restrictions in budget and you want something absolutely unique, specifically designed for you in gold and diamonds, then Oh My Got Cufflinks is your place. You can either order them online or visit their showroom in NYC. The pricing goes from $1,000 to $10,000 or over, depending on the design and materials you choose.
  5. Similar to cufflink.com, the Cufflinks Man has a wide display of options for any occasion and really reasonable prices.

I would avoid department stores such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Saks, Bergdorf Goodman, and the like. They have a really commercial and overpriced selection, and therefore it is not really worth your time, unless you are already shopping there and happen to see something you like.

Cufflinks are fun and cool and enhance a man’s overall outfit.  What’s not to like?? Get some and enjoy!
